A Few Random Thoughts...

I've been gone for a while so now I'm back with just a few thoughts on a couple of topics I have been occupying myself with these days

I'll start with our new Pres..

WTH??? - I'm not buying that we can spend a whole bunch of money and rack up an unbelieveable amount of debt and everyone - I mean EVERYONE that has a job and a breathe left in them is not going to have to pay for it - one way or another! Really? Give me a break!

American Idol...

I'm in lust with Adam Lambert! Not the "Ring of Fire, bordering on pornographic" Adam Lambert, but the oh so smooth "Tracks of my Tears" Adam Lambert. We got us a hot one right here baby!

I know that he is gay or at the very least bi but I just wish he would pick a side - all this teasing is driving me crazy!

What's up with Meghan Joy's dance moves? all that pseudo twisting she does is just plain distracting!

Kris Allen - he would have been the guy in my college statistics class that I would have had a mad crush on, who would not have even noticed me and that I would have stalked around campus!

I'm sure there's more, but that's all for now!

Alvin the Dead Chipmunk

Yesterday while indulging our Wii addiction I hear a scream and door slam - now anyone that knows Avery knows that this is not unusual at our house - she is our resident DQ. Anyhoo, I look toward her room and low and behold - it is Alvin, the dead Chipmunk - Daisy, the one in our home that can do no wrong, has excavated Alvin from the front yard and placed him on our living room floor. I am thoroughly disgusted. We proceed to yell and tell each other to get it out. As we each approach poor dead, decaying Alvin, we begin to gag - me, big T and little t - Avery is currently holed up in her room! No one is up to the task - Daisy has gone from being proud of her prize to standing in the corner with her ears down - a sure sign the she is either a) mortified by our screams or b) embarrassed that 2 fully grown adults and 1 half grown child cannot stomach scooping up Alvin and returning him to the yard! T tells t I'll give you $5 to get it out of here! t proceeds to scoop up Alvin with my dustpan and take him out into the street - all while dry heaving - so now our neighbors are sure that we are certifiable! Needless to say, T owes t 5 bucks! Thank the Lord we have a child that will do anything for a dollar!

2009

Clearly one of my New Year's Resolutions was not "to cut down on the procrastination" since this is my first post of the New Year and it is the 16th day of the month. But I did want to share some of the things I resolve to do in the New Year and a couple of things that I am looking forward to as well. So here goes - 1st the Resolutions
1) Cut down on the Procrastination - notice I said cut down - it is so ingrained in my being that I don't want to set myself up for failure!
2) Speak more clearly (a little less redneck) and more cleanly (a little less cussing, which goes along with a little less redneck!)
3) Clear out some of the clutter - literally and figuratively - I have places in my home that drive me absolutely crazy when I look at them i.e. the desk in my bedroom(I started this one Wed), Avery's room(thanks so Gigi and my sis in law mission accomplished) and my laundry room - no more moving things around! We are moving them out! The figuratively part is a little more tricky - stay away from drama - no pot stirring! I'm not really one to start something but I can sure keep it going! So from now on I want to be aware of this pesky and destructive little habit!
4) Be as kind to my children as I am to the dog! Now I'm really outing myself on this one!
5) Spend time having conversation with my hubby - this one was inspired by a recent sermon at church about marriage and relationships
Notice that nowhere on this list is there a resolution for losing 40 pounds - that's because it's just a carry over from the last 8 resolution lists!

Now onto the Looking forward to list:
1) Getting Travis' business started - finally - this has been the never ending venture, but we are in the home stretch now - and it's a good thing since we are officially broke and now going into debt :(
2) Going to the Beach - I always am looking forward to this one but since it is 30 degrees outside it the middle of the afternoon this one is sounding more and more exciting!
3) Blogging - I have really learned a lot about some of my friends and myself during my short career as a blogger and blog follower!
4) Marriage - since we have been married for 12 years (on Feb 8) we have reached a comfortable place - not in a complacent way but a "nice cozy blanket on a cold evening way" (corny I know but true no less!)
5) Little League - I have always enjoyed watching my children participate in any activity but there is just something about Little League!

Taking the Challenge

We here at the Adams household have taken the 12 days of Christmas Challenge being made by Gigi over at Gigi's 3w's. I have put a little semi slacker (no offense semi slacker mom!) spin on the challenge for the sake of time and so that we may actually succeed at something here at Casa de Adams! I haven't mentioned that we are involved in a challenge but I just incorporate an item/task into our evening routine. Yesterday it worked out that little Avery brought home a candy cane that had the real story of the candy cane printed on the wrapper so we read about the candy cane and each ate a piece. Yesterday we also took Uncle Jamie's Christmas package to the post office so that it will reach Afghanistan in time for Christmas. I have also asked each one of the children's teachers to have the class make Uncle Jamie a Christmas card (being the manipulative, control freak that I am - I didn't mention it to the kids - the teachers just brought it up so they think they are the ones that inspired this task - now Avery would have no problem asking for this but Tee would just as soon poke his own eye out!) Will keep you posted on our progress and hopeful departure from self absorption!
